However, in recent years, she has kept her relationships—and personal life in general—more private. Chris bravely fought the disease and shared her journey to spread awareness. But she knew the choice she wanted to make was to play, and realize her potentials as an all-time great champion. All her siblings also played tennis, but Chris became the star.

Chris was a shy girl, but when she had a racket in her hand, she turned into a champion.

And like an inclandestine first meeting with the future love of your life, Evert had likewise let the whole tennis world know that there was a new girl in town.

She has since been vocal about her journey, using her platform to raise awareness about the disease and support those going through similar struggles.

Before her cancer diagnosis, Evert had always been known for her commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both during her professional career and in her post-tennis years.

The tennis legend publicly shared her diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of early detection and encouraging others, especially women, to be vigilant about their health. On November 13, 2006, Evert filed for divorce. “The network realized immediately she was going to draw a crowd.” From the 2nd round, all of Evert’s matches were played on Center Court.

She finally lost in the semifinal round to the #1 seed and eventual champion, Billie Jean King.

And with the distractions of a life outside of tennis, there was an adjustment period which included relinquishing the number one ranking to Navratilova in 1979, losing a string of matches to hungrier rival Tracy Austin in a short span (3 times in 11 days), and of not being particularly pleased with her play.

His name was John Lloyd. The marriage ended in 2009.

Since her divorce from Norman, Chris Evert has not remarried.

Despite her legacy in tennis and her high-profile marriages, Chris Evert does not have a daughter. Evert had beaten Martina in 15 of 17 matches between the Spring of 1975 and the end of 77, but losing in that manner was completely alien to Chris.

It would be her final stay at the top, at age 31. With her numerous Grand Slam wins, high-profile marriages, and charitable work, Evert remains a prominent and respected figure in sports and beyond.
