Let us embrace this day with humility, awareness, and hope for a better future. Currently, we do not even have veto power on extractive projects. He and his beautiful wife Angela raise their beautiful daughters in the beautiful north shore of Lake Huron in the Robinson Huron Treaty territory.

Isadore is the former Regional Chief of Ontario, and the founder and CEO of Bimaadzwin, a newly established entity that strives to become the leader in indigenous business development.

Wearing an orange shirt is a small but meaningful act, signifying that “Every Child Matters.” This message is universal, transcending borders and resonating with those who have experienced systemic oppression. Isadore believes all societies on our planet have an affinity and unique perspective for life and seek to have a sustained quality of life for their citizens.

Settlers in Canada ignore the basic premise – that this land has lived experience of thousands of years by the Indigenous people. As we move through 2024, this day carries even greater significance. The meaning of Orange Shirt Day Orange Shirt Day, held annually on September 30th, is a day of deep reflection, remembrance, and a call to action for Canadians and people worldwide.

In 2024, as the country continues to grapple with the truths revealed by ground-penetrating radar searches at former residential school sites—where the remains of thousands of Indigenous children are being found—the urgency of recognizing and addressing this history has intensified. The Bimaadzwin team focus is on the quality of life and the advancement of our nations by working with Indigenous communities and willing partners.

Chief Day’s background in the fields of public administration and governance, business administration and social work uniquely position him towards building on a strong foundation moving forward on the cannabis sector in Canada.

It honours the survivors of Canada’s residential school system, remembers those who never made it home, and acknowledges the intergenerational trauma that continues to affect Indigenous communities. Pick up any report on Indigenous peoples to know that. More than ever, we are called to listen to Indigenous voices, acknowledge the truth, and participate in building a more equitable and compassionate future.

The moral of the parable is that humans tend to claim a truth based on their limited, subjective experience. For more than a century, Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their families and communities and sent to schools where they experienced harsh conditions, abuse, and a deliberate effort to sever them from their roots.

Orange Shirt Day: A National Day for Truth and Reconciliation The creation of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in 2021 formalized Orange Shirt Day as a federal statutory holiday, providing a dedicated time for reflection.

It is a solemn reminder of the colonial practices that sought to erase Indigenous cultures, languages, and identities through the residential school system. His main focus is on Indigenous Nationhood and Sovereignty rights for reconstituting Indigenous Nations on Turtle Island.

Land Back

Canadians are hesitant to discuss the concepts of Land Back, Indigenous Sovereignty and Inherent Jurisdiction.

And then understand what has to happen to stop this ongoing theft. Since its inception in 2013, Orange Shirt Day has grown from a grassroots initiative to a national movement that has sparked dialogue about reconciliation, the importance of education, and healing past wounds.
