Roosevelt married Alice Hathaway Lee, who died young.
His motto was:
“Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
He focused on diplomacy, but also used military power when needed. He worried that the U.S. might fall behind other strong countries like Japan. He is still the youngest person ever to become president of the United States.
