Before heading Nutanix, Ramasvami worked in VMware as the operating officer on products and cloud services where at the same time managed a product portfolio and company services.
Prior to this role, Rajiv led VMware’s Networking and Security business, one of the fastest-growing units in the company, as executive vice president and general manager. A large factor contributing to his income is his stock ownership.

On December 10, 2020 it became known that the Board of Directors of Nutanix appointed Rajiv Ramasvami Prezidentom and the CEO of the company and also the member of council.

For December, 2020 Rajiv Ramasvami is also the research associate of Institute of electrical and electronic engineers and radio electronics (IEEE) and holds 36 patents, mainly in the field of optical networks.
Ramasvami became the successor of the co-founder of the Pandey's Dirajah company who announced earlier intention to resign as the CEO.
