Chung Mong Koo (March 19, 1938 in Kangwon province) is the chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, the largest carmaker in South Korea.
Another subsidiary, Hyundai Heavy Industries, is the largest shipbuilder globally, and Hynix is a leading semiconductor manufacturer. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a prominent figure in the company.
Accolades and Success
In 2004, BusinessWeek named Chung Mong-koo the best top manager of the year. In April of that year, he was even arrested and sentenced to three years in prison.

Chung to continue to contribute to the development of Hyundai Motor Group as well as Korean national economy.[8] In 2009, the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan won the North American Car of the Year award.[9] By early 2011, Hyundai motor group was gauged by some in the auto industry to be the world’s fourth-largest automaker.[10]

Chung Mong-koo is a South Korean billionaire, entrepreneur, and heir to the Hyundai Motor Group empire.
