Personal Life
Kyriakos Mitsotakis is married to Mareva Grabowska, an investment banker with a rich heritage of British, Greek, Polish, and Egyptian roots.
The couple has three children: Sophia,Konstantinos, and Daphne.
Under his leadership, Greece repaid significant debts ahead of schedule and was named the Top Economic Performer for 2022.
Mitsotakis has also supported social reforms, including legalizing same-sex adoption and marriage, and has pursued a pro-European stance. From 1992 to 1993, he attended Stanford University, earning a Master's in International Policy.
In March 2015, he claimed that then-Minister of Finance Yiannis Varoufakis was undermining the Greek negotiations over the third bailout programme, saying: "Every time he opens his mouth, he creates a problem for the country’s negotiating position."
Following the resignation of Antonis Samaras as party leader and the failure of New Democracy in the September 2015 snap election, Mitsotakis announced his candidacy to succeed him.
Mitsotakis furthered his education at Harvard Business School, earning an MBA between 1993 and 1995. Mitsotakis is of Greek ethnicity and practices the Greek Orthodox faith.
