Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala) (1936–2018)

Legacy: Baba Sala was a legendary comedian and filmmaker, often regarded as one of the forefathers of modern Nigerian comedy. A popular comedian, actor, and director, Ogunsola's performances were often larger than life, and his films were a staple in Yoruba cinema for many years.

Notable Works: Ife Mi O, Alade Ogo, Olorun Ayo 

   His work helped lay the groundwork for the comedic direction in Yoruba films.

The Ministry, His Praise and Glory Media Ministry started in 2005 as I said above. Production values are low because producers are scared of putting much money and films are pirated putting them in debt. His films were an excellent blend of humor, social commentary, and deep Yoruba traditions.

Notable Works: Orun Mooru, Baba Sala in London, Sisi Ni Dudu 

   Baba Sala was also a master of the stage, and his impact on Nigerian comedy and film is still felt today.

What do you intend to achieve with this film?

As for the video market, it is a real mess, except the government will help by putting laws in place to penalise and make piracy a serious offense, that department is still going to be in trouble. For this particular movie ‘Caged’ the testimony is awesome because I was planning on making a totally different story in the USA but as my preparation advances I discovered that my finance and other logistics couldn’t accommodate the script I was planning on filming.

A foundation in the memory of the deceased was also launched to actualise the unaccomplished vision of the theatre expert.

The stakeholders lauded late Dr I. Sho Pepper for his professionalism, passion, and exploits in stage and theatre practices, calling on government to give more attention to the sector because of its potentials to reduce unemployment and positively project the country’s image to the outside world.

Doing a gospel film brings you forth as a Christian.

He recounted the late artist was a brilliant director, a great actor, a superb singer and music composer, an accomplished drummer and a talented dancer.

She said the symposium was organised to recognize and honour Olusola Isola Ogunsola as well as to draw attention to his place in the making of one of the most vibrant and popular cultural expressions in the history of the arts in Africa.

What do you think makes your film different and or better than what we have seen all over?

‘Caged’ Movie is a Christian movie coming to cinema in Nigeria in this new era of cinema in the country, although Christian movies have been in Nigerian cinema years before but with CAGED gospel movies are back in cinemas by God’s grace.

It is Christian movies of African origin in the UK and by God’s grace it’s going to America in June 2016, one of the countries of production, I say that with all humility and thankfulness to God, all glory be to God alone.

So, I went back to God and He gave me this message that is much shorter and will be easier to approach but with a relevant story to this time and age of the INTERNET. I wrote a book titled ‘Without A Word’ in 2013; it’s a message that encourages partners whose spouses are not yet born again to hold on to God. I also gave some advice based on my personal experience about I was able to win my husband to the Lord by God’s grace because today we both serve the Lord.

30years after, scholars, theatre practitioners remember I Sho Pepper

Thirty years after his demise, family members, friends, nollywood practitioners and scholars among others gathered over the weekend to honour and celebrate the memory of legendary and iconic Yoruba actor Ishola Ogunsola popularly called Dr I.

Legacy: I-Show Pepper was another legendary figure whose contributions to Yoruba theater and film cannot be overstated.

She recounted how the deceased coordinated his artists and ensured everything was well on the home front , particularly his love for education for his children in the stead of ostentatious lifestyle.

She also at the event preached unity and together among the people

The Convener, Bola Ogunsola-Akande described her late father as a multi-talented theatre icon and all-round man of the theatre based on his dexterity in almost every art of the theatre.

Awards of recognition and cash were presented to some of the individuals, who co-sojourned in the field of theatre practices with the late icon during his days, and who to date, still remain relevant in the industry.
