Yari’s political career began in 1999 when he served as the Secretary of the then All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) between 1999 and 2003. Yari began his political career in 1999 when he served as the state secretary of the then All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) between 1999 and 2003.

Zabarma claimed ₦3 billion was spent on the ongoing Zamfara State University project and ₦70 billion was spent on the House of Assembly renovation despite the University being only 30% completed and the House of Assembly renovation having not started at all.

He earned certificates and diplomas from Sokoto Polytechnic (1991–1994; secretarial studies) and Kebbi Polytechnic (Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, 2008).
