He excelled as a student yet struggled to fit in with his classmates who were the children of French nobles and bullied Napoleon for being a foreigner. This pivotal moment solidified his status and opened the door to greater military responsibilities, allowing him to lead the Army of Italy, where he orchestrated significant victories that expanded French territorial holdings and showcased his tactical brilliance.
At age 15, Napoleon moved on to the military academy in Paris. “My career in hip hop started much later; kids today at 10 years old are where I was when I was 19.
Their marriage was marked by passion and turbulence, as Napoleon frequently found himself away from home due to his military campaigns. Graduating early from the military academy, Napoleon, now second lieutenant of artillery, returned to Corsica in 1786.
Back home, Napoleon got behind the Corsican resistance to the French occupation, siding with his father’s former ally, Pasquale Paoli. During the Napoleonic Wars, the famed military tactician expanded France’s footprint before a string of critical losses forced him into exile.
That April, he dictated his last will: “I wish my ashes to rest on the banks of the Seine, in the midst of that French people which I have loved so much. The solidarity they share translates not only to their marriage of 10 years, but also to their work as two of today’s most renowned choreographers and instructors. “We have a studio in our house, and when we feel like dancing, we just jump up and do it!”
Of course, they don’t see eye-to-eye all of the time.
While Napoleon was still there, his father died of stomach cancer in 1785. Additional TV credits include executive producing FOX's Mobbed, and creative producing both FOX's American Idol and ABC's Sing Your Face Off.
The pair has provided creative direction and choreography for awards shows including the Grammy's, the Emmy's, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and Kids Choice Awards.
Over the years the duo have worked with top music artists including Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Arianna Grande, Jesse J, Ed Sheeran, Prince, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Sean Kingston, 50 Cent, Ricky Martin, and Madonna's 2012 Superbowl Halftime Show.
They are two time Emmy winners (2011 and 2014) for Outstanding Choreography on So You Think You Can Dance. All the conventions wanted to see skin or people flying through the air. Napoleon adds, “That was the start of us saying, ‘Maybe we should go to Los Angeles and do this.’”
In 1999, a year after getting married, the D’umos did just that.
He also appears as an antagonist in the 2009 sequel Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
In 2023, director Ridley Scott helmed a new biopic simply titled Napoleon that released in theaters on November 22.
