ww2dbaseAnami was buried at the municipal Tama Cemetery in Fuchu in western Tokyo, Japan. As a staunch advocate for continuing the "holy war for the defense of our divine land," Anami became the leader of the "war party."
However, as a loyal and unwavering monarchist, Anami remained committed to the emperor's will.
Aspiring to be an officer from a young age, he looked up to General Count Maresuke Nogi. From August 1923 to May 1925, he was assigned to the staff of the Sakhalin Expeditionary Army, which was responsible for the occupation of northern Sakhalin island during the Japanese intervention in Siberia. From August 1929 to August 1930, Anami served as Aide-de-camp to Emperor Hirohito.
Some sought to end the war. In Nov 1916, he was promoted to the rank of captain. He was subsequently Commandant of the Tokyo Military Preparatory School, and promoted to Major General in March 1935.

ww2dbaseKorechika Anami was born in Taketa, Oita Prefecture, Japan in 1887.
But Anami argued that a great casualty-laden battle would bring Allied acceptance of his conditions. Then early the next morning on Aug. 15, 1945 he committed hara-kiri. Anami was promoted to lieutenant colonel in August 1925.From August to December 1925, Anami was sent as a military attaché to France. In November 1918, Anami graduated from the 30th class of the Army Staff College with the rank of captain.
In Aug 1930, he was promoted to the rank of colonel. In Jul 1942, he was made the commanding officer of the 2nd Area Army, which was stationed in northeastern China in the Japanese-sponsored puppet state of Manchukuo. Known for his equestrian and fencing skills, Anami earned the respect of his peers.
Role in the Military Government
From 1937 to 1938, Anami headed the General Affairs Bureau of the War Ministry.
Instead, Anami told his officers to obey the emperor's wish. He was also a member of the Supreme Council for the Direction of the War, known as the Big 6 since it had six members. In 1938-1939, he commanded the 109th Division in China.
In Aug 1923, he was named the chief of staff of the Sakhalin Expeditionary Army, which was the occupation army for the Russian (northern) half of Sakhalin island.
