Her debut came with the song "Netru Intha Neram" in the 1981 film Tik Tik Tik, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, followed by "Kadavul Ullame" in Anbulla Rajinikanth (1984), a tribute-themed movie starring her husband Rajinikanth.[22][23] She also sang "Ding Dong" and "Kukkukoo Koovum" in Valli (1993), and "Manapennin Sathiyam" in Kochadaiiyaan (2014), along with its Telugu version "Yedemaina Sakha" in Vikramasimha (2014).[24] These appearances reflect her selective discography across four films.Transitioning to production, Latha made her mark with Maaveeran (1986), her first venture as a line producer under Rajinikanth Pictures, a fantasy action film starring Rajinikanth that became a commercial success and highlighted her support for her husband's projects.[6] She followed this with Valli (1993), a social drama addressing child labor and rural exploitation, which she co-produced and for which she also served as costume designer, personally overseeing the aesthetic elements to align with the film's grounded narrative.[10][8] Her hands-on role in Valli's costumes emphasized authentic rural attire, contributing to the film's realistic portrayal of its themes.[25] She has not pursued further film productions since 1993 but contributed to the album Rajini 25 (1999) marking Rajinikanth's 25 years in the industry.

She graduated in English Literature from Ethiraj College. Rajnikanth wife sang for Tamil films such as Tik Tik Tik (1981) and Anbulla Rajinikanth (1984), before starting the Ashram School in Chennai in 1991.
