One of my significant contributions to the healthcare sector was the introduction of a telehealth initiative known as “Dial-a-Doc-Direct.” This groundbreaking project enabled residents to access direct medical consultations using their mobile phones, thereby reducing the disparity between rural and urban healthcare access.

We have diligently invested our time and resources to establish modern and efficient laboratories in local government areas, such as the state-of-the-art laboratory in Nkwoegwu, Umuahia North. This initiative aims to create a more efficient and responsive healthcare system. By providing instant access to medical professionals, it aims to reduce high infant and maternal mortality rates.

Our initiatives have focused on enhancing the functionality of primary healthcare centers across the state. The initiative leveraged telecommunications technology to provide quick and immediate medical attention, effectively reducing the time barrier in delivering healthcare services in Abia State. -Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu

Health has always been a paramount priority for me, which is why I have made significant efforts to improve the healthcare system in Abia State.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the healthcare improvements made during my tenure have been recognized and validated by the federal government, affirming the progress we have achieved in enhancing healthcare in Abia State -Dr. We built a dedicated Mother and Child Hospital in Umuahia, and another hospital in Ugwunagbo, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Dial-a-Doc-Direct service has proven transformative, significantly improving child and maternal health outcomes. The project was launched with the support of former Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo. We also introduced free access to emergency ambulance services, providing swift and effective responses to medical emergencies.

These facilities have recently been commissioned by the current administration, marking a significant milestone in our healthcare development efforts. Given its success, I have advocated for nationwide adoption of this telehealth model. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu
