Similar to her product for parents, Air Lift allowed those who are dependent on supplemental oxygen to be able to participate in daily activities and become more active. However, she encountered difficulties as her baby would often slip off her back. Having been inspired by the women in Togo, she decided to make a sling so she could easily tote around her baby in a similar manner.

By using strategically placed straps, the Snugli baby carrier securely held the child in place, allowing them to be carried on the front or back. The Snugli allowed infants to accompany their parents on bike rides, hikes, and even travels, without causing any discomfort.

Creation of Air Lift
After selling her first invention, Moore was approached by a respiratory therapist that could aid her patients in carrying their oxygen tanks.
In her young adult life Moore attended the University of Cincinnati for her undergraduate degree, and then attended Columbia University for her pediatric nursing degree. The babies rarely cried because they were being held close to their mother, often breastfeeding. When Moore was out doing errands, people would often come up to her commenting on the sling and asking her questions.

Ann Moore
Ann Moore is a nurse who invented the original hands-free baby carrier called the Snugli® in the 1960s. 2021-12-14. They took out key aspects of the original design, something that Moore did not expect. In an interview for the University of Cincinnati Magazine she said, “farm life is wonderful for kids to grow up in because you have a very natural interpretation of your environment…On a farm, when you don't have something right at your hands, you have to create your own solution.” This kind of childhood would be the backbone for her drive to solve problems through invention.
Moore attended the University of Cincinnati for her undergraduate degree and then completed a pediatric nursing degree at Columbia University.
It was during her time there that she observed African mothers carrying their babies using pieces of fabric tied around their bodies, allowing them to have their hands free while keeping their little ones close.
Inspired by this traditional practice, Moore decided to try carrying her own daughter in a similar manner when she returned to the United States with her husband, Mike.
She had her first international experience when she went to Germany to work with Eastern Europe refugees and then when to Morocco to aid earthquake victims.[4]
Career
In 1962, Moore was teaching pediatric nursing at Columbia University’s Babies Hospital. However, she saw that her daughter would slip at times, so she asked her mother, Lucy Auckerman, to sew her a backpack to place her in.
