I decided not to do what I did in my last image of holding it so you can see the background too, as I think having the background and just the bush brings it all together.

This photo is of a similar concept but this time it is a cutout of a woman running and holding a blanket-type item behind her. But this time, I have held it up to a different background that I think also works as well as the grass field, and this is quite a colourful bush or plant.

When did it become a full-time job for you?
I took things seriously around 4 years ago, and bit by bit, thanks to social media (and hard work!), success started crawling in. Again, I held this in the centre of this shot so your eye is drawn to it even more and it stands out. I think this really interpretes his style into my recreations as he is a fashion illustrator and this is what he focuses his photography on.

Well, I wish I were a chef.

Do you enjoy fame?
I personally don’t enjoy fame, but I love it when my “famous” artwork leaves an impression in people’s minds and lives.

What is the biggest risk you've taken that you feel has paid off?
It’s deciding to be a full-time artist.

Aside from doodling, what other things do you like to do in your free time?
I like to watch movies, series and documentaries.

Are there any political or social issues you feel passionately about?
I’m a strong advocate of education for girls.

Where have you traveled?

Suddenly, my job was all about collaborations with designers and celebrities, workshops, etc.

Who are some of your favorite fashion designers?
Christian Lacroix, Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane.

What is the hardest thing for you personally about being a fashion illustrator and a designer?
It’s when I have client deadlines, and I get inspired to draw something else, totally unrelated to the project I’m working on.

24 June 2015. I also think the fact that I included two leaves in the background is great because it adds another eye-drawing point to the image as they are quite bright and colourful but compliment the bright white drawing that creates contrast against the background.

Saudi architect and visual artist Shamekh Al-Bluwi took fashion illustration to new innovative and creative heights with his beautiful paper cut-out dresses, which can be decorated by nature and sights on the street.

Which city has been your favorite and why?
I haven’t been to loads of cities, but Cairo is so special to me. Jamie. This way, it takes out the slightly distracting feature of my arm and bright burgundy coat. I love the energy of its streets, its rich culture, and its genuine people.

What do you splurge on most?
Colors and art supplies.

What's on your music playlist right now?
Lately, it’s been about Tania Saleh and indie rock songs.

Next place you want to travel to?

Although multi-toned, the background is pretty dark-toned, so the white of the drawing creates contrast in the photo.

    However, I didn’t want to get stuck right there, and that’s why I always try new techniques, for the sake of art and not popularity.

    How did that affect your career?
    All the positive feedback has helped boost my career, leading to more clients and projects, even not related to cut-outs!

    Tell us something about yourself that people might not already know.
    I can survive on desserts alone, cake to be specific!

    What are your greatest passions?
    Art.

    I’m a fanatic, and I always enjoy exploring different forms of art, to enrich my inspiration.

    What causes you the most anxiety?
    I’m a relatively calm person, but sometimes my stress spikes if I drink too much coffee.

    This still uses Shamekh's style of photography and his intentions, but I have included some of my own ideas to make it a bit more unique and personal, rather than completely fashion.

  • This shot is using the same cutout image as the last one I shown - the sketch of the eye with the iris cut out. He gained worldwide popularity after his published sketches went viral on the Internet.

    I also held the cutout so it was in the direct middle of the shot, as this draws your eye to the eye and emphasising the fact that it is the central image and main focus of it. 29 September 2017. This gives an abstract impression and makes his work unique and different from the rest as the combine two images in a non-digital kind of way, as he holds the cut outs up to his chosen background himself, without editing.

    MY RECREATIONS

    I like this photo because it takes exactly the same approach as Bluwi - taking an interesting background and using it as the initial image for this final shot.
