He left the company in 1981 to begin his own firm, the Mariposa Design Group, although he officially "retired'' from the Walt Disney Co.
in 1996.
He was named a Disney Legend in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Tocci; children Christoper, Roxana and Theresa; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were pending today for Rolly Crump, a longtime Disney Imagineer who played a key role in the early design of Disneyland and Walt Disney World, most notably on attractions such as the Haunted Mansion and Enchanted Tiki Room.
Crump died Sunday at his home in Carlsbad at age 93, according to The Walt Disney Co.
A native of Alhambra, Crump joined Disney in 1952 as a "dipper'' in a ceramic factory, working on weekends building sewer manholes to make ends meet.
For one reason or another, Crump never finished his poster for the Insomniac Bookshop. In 1966, when the attraction moved to Disneyland, he designed the large animated clock at the entrance that sends puppet children on a parade.
He contributed to early designs of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, and worked on designs for NBC’s Disney on Parade in 1970, before leaving Disney to work on outside projects including Busch Gardens, the ABC Wildlife Preserve in Maryland, and Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus World.
He later went on to develop elements for Knott’s Berry Farm’s Bear-y Tales ride. Initially he worked on inbetweening, before becoming an assistant animator working on movies including Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. So when I heard there was an exhibit of his non-Disney work, I knew Patrick and I had to go! Crump died on 12 March 2023 at the age of 93 at his home in Carlsbad, California.

Born Roland Crump, he became known as Rolly primarily thanks to Walt Disney's inability to remember his name.
"I started off as Roland, then I was 'Owen' for a while, and then I became 'Orland,' but of course, I would answer to anything he called me,'' Crump once said, according to Disney.
Additionally, we were thrilled to be able to purchase an original screenprint from the late 50s. His designs continue to influence the look of all the Disney parks.
Crump’s colorful pop art design sensibility can be seen in the original design for It’s a Small World and its iconic clock, first constructed for the New York World’s Fair, which he created using sketches from Disney artist Mary Blair.
Born in Alhambra, Calif., Crump worked at Disney until the 1970s when he left, providing designs for other theme parks including Knott’s Berry Farm and Busch Gardens.
He returned to Disney to create designs for the Epcot Center’s “The Land” and the “Wonders of Life” pavilions.
He retired from Disney in 1996, and published an autobiography, It’s Kind of a Cute Story, in 2012. In 1959 he joined WED Enterprises (later Walt Disney Imagineering) and became a designer of some of Disneyland’s attractions and shops, including The Haunted Mansion, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Adventureland Bazaar.
He transitioned to Imagineer and contributed to “it’s a small world” for the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, including the Tower of the Four Winds sculpture that was situated outside. Follow us on Facebook.
