This approach reflects Neuenschwander's interest in the relationship between art and everyday life, and her belief that art should be accessible and inclusive. She graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1993 and completed her MFA at the Royal College of Art in London 1998.
Neuenschwander has also been the recipient of prestigious awards, such as the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Grand Prize of the Venice Biennale.
