In 1985, he made his home in Houston, Texas, where he continues to paint, fish, and cook with equal passion.
His culinary talents have earned him praise as well—his signature “Chicken Nenad,” a gourmet dish beloved by his wife Donna, is a testament to his creativity in the kitchen.
From tranquil landscapes and crashing coastlines to peaceful symphonies, vibrant jazz bands, and lifelike portraits, his diverse repertoire continues to captivate collectors of all ages and backgrounds.
Born and raised in Belgrade (formerly part of Yugoslavia), Mirkovich grew up along the beautiful Danube River in a creative family of artists. While working as a portrait painter and magazine illustrator in Yugoslavia, Mirkovich began to receive public acclaim for his gift of artistry.
Early in his career, Mirkovich mastered landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes.
Over the years, Mirkovich has painted numerous portraits of prominent dignitaries, celebrities, and families. Many collectors and art enthusiasts consider him among the finest living portrait artists, thanks to his remarkable ability to convey deep emotion through the interplay of light and shadow. Mirkovich now makes his home in Texas. Working mostly at night, he began painting with Jazz or Classical music playing in the room, acting as his muse.
This mood helped Mirkovich develop his unique style of depicting Jazz icons and Rock-and-Roll legends using splashes of color to emphasize movement and sound.
Mirkovich’s recent piece features the world-renowned rock legends, The Rolling Stones, in celebration of their 50th anniversary as a group. He also is a gourmet cook, and has developed a favorite dish he calls "Nenad Chicken".
