Wordsworth Grasmere aims to develop activities that fulfil Wordsworth’s own wish, that his poetry would ‘live, and do good’ for the “Poets, who among these hills, / Will be my second self when I am gone”. It holds the greatest collection of modern British poetry in the world and actively seeks to add contemporary poetry pamphlets to its collection.

They match text with sympathetic graphics, well-judged typography and visual panache. It does so through research and fieldwork; publications; supporting researchers with permits, fellowships and awards; its internationally renowned Library; the work of the Fitch Laboratory for Archaeological Science; promoting the use of its archival, laboratory, and museum collections by the scholarly community worldwide; a programme of regular events; and providing courses and internships for undergraduates, postgraduates, and schoolteachers.

Prizes of £10,000 and £5,000 were awarded, along with publication in the winners’ pamphlet, Ariadne. Entrants were asked to reflect on the culture and history of the Greeks, from ancient to contemporary times.
