The mezzotint, arguably the most difficult of printmaking techniques, was invented in 17th century Amsterdam and flourished in 18th century England. Wearing the Japanese tabi socks is the first step to dressing up in a Japanese kimono, followed by the kimono underclothing, the kimono robe itself, and then the tying of the obi.
