Professor Zomaya received his PhD from the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, Sheffield University in the United Kingdom.

Prior to his current appointment he was a Full Professor in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Australia, where he also led the Parallel Computing Research Laboratory during the period 1990-2002.
