    He is best known for composing the music for "O Canada", which officially became the national anthem of Canada in 1980, after a vote in the Senate and the House of Commons. He was back in Canada about 1875, teaching and performing in Montreal and Quebec. 'O Canada' . - Total pages: 608

He then resumed performing in minstrel shows, his troupe touring Canada in particular during the winter of 1863.

    Lavallée came back to Lower Canada at the end of that year and, in January 1864, after a period of rest, gave a concert in Montreal to mark his return.
