A couple of interesting facts about this version, the actor above appeared in several of Marks’ films including Dolly Mixture and Santa’s Coming, but there is no mention of his name other than a pseudonym of “Short Jack Gold”.

Clyda got so carried away filming the softcore version that the simulated sex ended up being the real thing, with Clyda letting the lucky Mr Gold have full sex with her. If you want more details on the film and the actors, there is a great review of it over on Gavcrimson’s blog here.

The 80 odd negatives I have actually covered the whole film and put together would actually make a good slide show of the film, which I may do someday once I get the chance.

Other than that, a great action shot of Clyda and her massive tits being manhandled by Mr Gold!

Synopsis

A mad doctor (Paul Kirby) has created a woman (Clyda Rosen) from the body parts of various dolly birds, hence 'Dolly Mixture'.

Dolly Mixture is another of those later GHM films that were shot both in a full colour hardcore version for the overseas market, and shot a week later, a black and white softcore version for the British market. Would love to know the location of the beautiful house used for some of the interiors.

Upon being brought to life, she immediately embarks on a threesome with a passing Tax Inspector (Jack Gold) and the mad doctor's hunchback assistant.

Compared both versions and it seems fairly conclusive that much of the narrative footage is common between the two, despite apparently different actors cast in all roles (the copy I found of the soft cut was so muddy it was basically impossible to distinguish faces).

This shot comes from the softcore version, along with over 80 other original negatives I’ve acquired. The mad professor in the softcore version is also the same actor that plays the main insurance investigator in the hardcore version, who is credited as being Paul Kirby.

As it was clearly also shot in reversal, I wonder if the original was recut from one version to the other and, in that case, the hard version was likely made later.
As for the film itself, this is a terrific horror-comedy short with plentiful narrative imagination and well directed visuals.

I can handle the truth.

I first became aware of this vintage slice of Harrison Marks directed smut several years ago after reading a brief account of the film by its lead actor -who goes by the internet name “Short Jack Gold”- which immediately caught my attention with his description of the film’s outlandish, horror themed, plot and some of the saucy goings-on that happened on set (more about that later on), all of which convinced me that Dolly Mixture must be something quite special in the Harrison Marks' filmography.

Dolly Mixture hails from Marks’ years in the wilderness, in-between directing the feature films The Nine Ages of Nakedness in 1969 and Come Play With Me in 1976.
