Adeojo’s Death and Legacy
Yekini Adeojo passed away on April 4, 2025, at 81. However, he loved his family very much. He held a big title called Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, which was an important position in the Muslim community in Yoruba land.
This title showed that people trusted him, not just in Ibadan or Oyo State, but in all of Yorubaland.

While Adeojo may have retired from active politics in 2015, he never retired from philanthropy.
Unlike his politics which was very popular, some of Adeojo’s most significant acts of philanthropy were never publicized, at least not by him.
In 2015, about the same time he retired from politics, he made his privately owned basic and secondary schools, headed at the time by one of his daughter, Rukayat Osho Adeojo, completely free for students.
He left behind a legacy of leadership that will continue to inspire his family and future generations of Nigerian politicians.
Though his passing is a loss to the political community, his contributions to Nigeria’s growth cannot be understated.
His family, including his son, continues to honor his legacy by serving the people of Oyo State.

Yekini Adeojo was born in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. Though his exact birth date is not widely publicized, it is known that he grew up to be a well-respected figure in Nigerian politics.

The PDP chieftain contested the gubernatorial election on the platform of the party in 1999.
