The Test of Faith
One of the most famous stories in the life of Abraham is the test of faith, where God asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, as a demonstration of his obedience.
Abraham makes a covenant with Abimelech, the leader of the Philistines, then lives for a time in Beersheba (Genesis 21:22 - 34).

A Severe Test
God tests Abraham, now 115 years old, by commanding he sacrifice his fifteen-year-old son Isaac.
Abraham, ever since leaving Haran, has feared his wife's beauty would get him killed.

The Life of Abraham
Abraham is one of the most blessed people in the Bible. He was married to Sarai. I’ll just mention some important points.
God’s everlasting covenant with Abraham’s descendants passed down through Isaac’s bloodline. Abraham's future son Isaac will end up marrying Rebekah, the daughter of Nahor's son Bethuel (22:20 - 23, 24:15).
But his faith in God was stronger than his doubts and resistance.
“By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, of whom it was said, Through Isaac shall your offspring be named. Although Lot and his family are saved from this destruction, his wife is turned to salt for disobeying the Eternal’s instructions (Genesis 19).
Abraham's herdsmen, however, soon begin to have arguments with Lot's herdsmen over grazing rights. This test is seen as a symbol of Abraham's faith and his willingness to trust in God, even in the face of great personal sacrifice. For example when he married his servant Hagar to have a child by her, or when he told that his wife was just his sister, so that Pharaoh took her for his wife (Genesis 12:10-20).
In fact, there is far too much information about Abraham to cover it all in one article! Soon after this event God tells Abraham (Genesis 12:1 - 2), who is now 75 years old, to leave Haran and take his family to the land of Canaan (the land of promise). His named is changed to Abraham while Sarai's is changed to Sarah to reflect the blessings they will receive.
Abraham buries his wife of more than 67 years in a cave upon land purchased from its Hittite owner (Genesis 23). God says that he will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him (Genesis 12:3)!
The Eternal's plan for man, through a single person, was so important that God personally promised to treat anyone the same way they treated Abram and his descendants!
In Genesis 15 God promises Abram that his wife Sarai will no longer be barren, but will bare him a child to be his heir.
God then calls Abraham, now age 75, and commands he leave the city for the land of Canaan.
And the Lord said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house into a land that I will show you." (Genesis 12:1, HBFV).
Abraham, Sarah and Hagar
Abraham, Sarah, Lot, as well as their slaves, leave Haran for the Promised Land.
I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:1-3).
This promise was the beginning of God’s special relationship with Abraham’s descendants, the people of Israel. When was he severely tested by having to sacrifice his own son?
