Susan Sobbott (born May 25, 1964) is an American business executive, and was most recently the President of Global Commercial Services business at American Express.[1] Sobbott was responsible for all of the products that serve American Express’ commercial payment clients around the world.[2] She worked at American Express for 27 years,[1] and through her time with the company “she established herself as a leader who spearheads creative marketing strategies, uncovers pockets of untapped growth and cares deeply about her customers.”[2]
Early Life & Education
Sobbott grew up in Westwood, New Jersey[3] with her parents and three siblings.[4] Her parents were first-generation Americans, her father’s family being Polish, and her mother’s Italian.[4]
When Sobbott was five years old, her father decided to start his own business.[4] He started a local messenger service, which he then expanded to long-haul tractor trailers, delivering items such as food products.[4]
Sobbott was the first of her three siblings to go away to college, attending Georgetown University, where she got her BA.[3][4] She then went on to receive her MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.[2]

Sobbott had a 27-year career at American Express, before announcing that she would be leaving the company in February of 2018.
