Beyond acting, Suchitra is a trained singer in the Gwalior Gharana style of Indian classical music. She also graced various television commercials.
Her Bollywood debut came in 1994 with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Deepak Tijori. In 1999, she married film director and producer Shekhar Kapur, but the couple divorced in 2007.
They have a daughter, Kaveri Kapur, who is in Suchitra’s custody.
Career
Suchitra’s career spans television, film, music, and literature. In July 2017, she faced criticism for controversial tweets targeting the Muslim community. As a singer, she has released several successful pop albums including Dole Dole, Dum Tara, Aha, and Zinda.
She transitioned into authorship, publishing her first novel, The Summer of Cool, in 2009, followed by her semi-autobiographical work, Drama Queen, in 2013.
Her theatrical talents led to roles in Hindi plays, including a 2019 performance in Ek Haan alongside veteran actor Shekhar Suman.

Suchitra has been involved in a few public controversies. Even then, her passion for singing shone through, as she actively participated in school singing competitions. Her acting debut was in the television serial Chunauti in 1987, aired on DD National.
