In 1972, while Teegarden went on tour with Bob Seger and his band, Skip formed his own group, known as the Skip Van Winkle Band. All information found on these pages is under copyright of Oklahoma Cemeteries.

Their single "God, Love and Rock & Roll" (borrowed heavily from "Amen" peaked at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970.

In the early 1990s, former Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger formed a trio called The Robby Krieger Organization featuring Skip on electric organ and Dale Alexander on drums and backing vocals. He was born in Oklahoma in 1944?.  He was on the baseball team of McLain High School & also Tulsa University.

Teegarden & VanWinbkle were an American Musical Duo, with Skip on the electronic organ, organ pedal base, vocals & David Teegarden on Drums, vocals.  They formed the band & took their folksy rock to Detroit.

Skip VanWinkle's legal name was Kim Knape.

They reunited in 1997 for another album, "Radioactive," and continued performing together occasionally thereafter.

Formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the early 1960s, they later relocated to Detroit, Michigan where they worked with Bob Seger and other top local area artists.

This Top 40 smash was followed in late 1970 by "Everything Is Going To Be Alright," which became a minor hit. This material will always be available at no cost, it will always remain free to the researcher.

Skip, whose real name was Skip KnapƩ, teamed with David Teegarden to form the folk rock duo Teegarden and Van Winkle in the 1960s.

The duo released their debut album in 1968, "Evening At Home With Teegarden & Van Winkle."

Teegarden & Van Winkle debuted on the Pop/Rock charts in 1970 with "God, Love And Rock & Roll," a rock adaptation of the traditional gospel song, "Amen," featuring Teegarden's powerhouse drumming and Van Winkle's energetic organ riffs.
