    Early life and background

Martijn Gerard Garritsen was born on 14 May 1996 to parents Gerard and Karin Garritsen (find out more about Dutch names here).

He, along with Zubyr Soomro at United Bank and Muhammad Mian Soomro at National Bank of Pakistan, were "successful in bringing the nationalised commercial banks (NCBs) back from virtual extinction."

He left HBL in 2000 to join Union Bank as its president. Various online publications make estimations as to what the DJ’s net worth could be, however it’s difficult to verify these as being accurate.

“The first time I heard it [trance music] was when Tiësto performed at the Olympics in 2004. Tarin resigned on February 23, 2010, stating it was a matter of principle to focus on raisingequity for Silkbank Ltd., a institution he chaired, avoiding potential conflicts of interest while in office; Prime Minister Gillani accepted the resignation, with interim oversight by the PM until a successor was named.[27][28][29]

    Post-2010 Activities and Advisory Roles

Following his resignation as Finance Minister on February 23, 2010, Shaukat Tarin returned to the private banking sector, primarily focusing on Silk Bank Limited (formerly Saudi-Pak Commercial Bank), where he had served as president prior to his governmental role.[29][3] The resignation stemmed from regulatory constraints preventing him from raising required equity for the bank while holding public office, as Silk Bank faced financial challenges necessitating capital infusion.[30] Tarin, drawing on prior leadership at institutions like Citibank, Habib Bank Limited, and Union Bank, aimed to stabilize and restructure Silk Bank amid Pakistan's competitive banking landscape.[31]In March 2018, Tarin was retained by Prime MinisterShahid Khaqan Abbasi as convener of the reconstituted Economic Advisory Council (EAC), a body providing non-binding recommendations on fiscal, monetary, and developmental policies.[32] This advisory position leveraged his expertise from over four decades in banking and prior ministerial experience, though Tarin emphasized the EAC's role remained consultative without executiveauthority.[32] The council included economists and sector experts, focusing on issues like economic growth strategies and institutional reforms during a period of political transition following the PML-N government's tenure.[32]By early 2021, amid overtures from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration, Tarin was offered a position on the Prime Minister's economic team and poised to lead an expanded economic advisory board, reflecting his perceived alignment with PTI circles—partly through familial ties to senior PTI figure Jehangir Tareen.[30][33] This involvement preceded his formal re-entry into government, building on his EAC convener role and banker credentials to address Pakistan's mounting economic pressures, including debt servicing and IMF negotiations.[34][35]

Second Tenure as Finance Minister (2021–2022)

Shaukat Tarin was appointed FederalMinister for Finance and Revenue on 16 April 2021 by Prime MinisterImran Khan, replacing Hammad Azhar as the fourth financeminister under the PTI administration amid escalating economic challenges, including a current accountdeficit, rising importbill, and stalled IMF talks.[36] His constitutional six-month limit without a parliamentary seat expired on 16 October 2021, after which he served as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue until elected to the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 20 December 2021, with formal oath as minister on 27 December.[37][38][15]Tarin's priorities centered on fiscal stabilization, revenue mobilization, and restoring creditor confidence.

So, I had the skills and I knew I loved trance music so the logical transition was to produce it. That inspires me. On 27 July 2009, he was elected senator unopposed from Sindh and subsequently, he was elevated to finance minister of Pakistan. “Nearly every DJ started playing it, this song I made in my parents’ house — all my idols. He was this big Dutch DJ and I remember listening to it and feeling it straight away.

I’m very proud of what we did together and excited to finally share it with the world!”

The trio performed the track as part of the tournament’s official opening ceremony at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, with Garrix also performing it as part of the closing ceremony at Wembley Stadium at the end of the tournament.

Garrix has collaborated with a number of big-name artists over the years, including David Guetta, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Khalid, Dean Lewis, Usher, Bebe Rexha and more.
