Born as Harikrishan Giri Goswami into a Hindu Brahmin family in the town of Abbottabad, which was then part of British India’s North-West Frontier Province (now located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan), he came into the world with a name that would later become synonymous with talent and patriotism.

The historic events of Partition deeply impacted his family, and when Manoj Kumar was just 10 years old, they made the difficult decision to migrate from Jandiala Sher Khan to Delhi, seeking a new life and opportunities in the newly independent India.
