Bijay Tamang
Bijay Tamang, widely known as Maila Rapper, is a dynamic voice in Nepal’s emerging hip‑hop scene.
Rai, who had become famous in the East by singing a song before passing the vocal test in Radio Nepal, later recorded the same song on the radio. He once worked as a sarangi player in Radio Nepal and also ran Shraddha Digital Recording Studio for the emergence of new talent. The song is, 'Chalechh Batas Sustari Manai Harar, there is no trust, I live my life laughing.'
Rai, who won first place in the talent search competition organized by Ratna Recordings, recorded the song only in 2042.
Rai, who once conducted a program called Shraddha Sangeet on Radio Kantipur, responded that he was very happy to be honored by the organization he worked for. Born in Chungmang, Dhankuta, he rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s with his heartfelt lyrics and distinctive voice.
Some of his most iconic songs include:
- “Chitthi Timilai Lekhu Bhanchu”
- “Yo Man Bhanchha Kaha Jau”
- “Chalechha Batas Sustari”
- “Aalu Dam Chana”
He is also known for his mastery of the sarangi, a traditional Nepali string instrument, which adds a soulful texture to his compositions.
Rai became very emotional when Sanjay Tumrok sang the same song at the award ceremony. But his mind never went beyond song/music.
