Ian McKellen and Roger Allam Will Bring FRANK AND PERCY to The Other Palace Next Month

Ben Weatherill’s new comedy, Frank and Percy, starring Ian McKellen (Percy) and Roger Allam (Frank) and directed by Sean Mathias, will have a limited London season at The Other Palace from Friday 8 September until Sunday 3 December.

However, one of his most notable appearances in movies at that time was in the 1988 film "White Mischief" as Gerald Portman.

In April 2002, Sean directed "The Elephant Man" at the Royale Theatre (present-day Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre). In 1989, he directed a revival of "Bent" at the Adelphi Theatre, a play by Martin Sherman, that had opened on Broadway in 1979. Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has picked up world sales rights for the film, which starts production this month.

Full name, Sean Gerard Mathias; born March 14, 1956, in Swansea, Wales; son of John Frederick and Anne Josephine (Harding) Mathias.

His production of No Man’s Land, starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, was the highest-grossing play in the history of the Wyndham’s Theatre. In 2007, Mathias acted as a director for the novelist Edna O'Brien's play, "Triptych", in Johannesburg.

In 2009, Mathias became artistic director of the Theatre Royal Haymarket and opened his season with Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.

The following year, in 1999, he acted as a director for Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly Last Summer" at the Comedy Theatre (present-day Harold Pinter Theatre) in London.

In the early 2000's, Mathias moved to New York City, where, in October 2001, he directed Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren in August Strindberg's "Dance of Death" on Broadway.
