“People like Flume, they inspire me, they have such a unique sound, and that’s what I’m trying to do, I want people to be able to say ‘This is Martin Garrix’ when one of my tracks plays,” Garrix said in a 2017 interview with The Independent. The expressions in her ferrofluid sculptures exist in the generation of organic forms and movement using ferrofluid, to present growing forms, contraction, rhythm, composition of curved surface and light, and emerging subtle/dynamic textures.

“It was the biggest thing,” Garrix told MTV. “My mum literally pulled me in front of the TV. One day later, I ran to the CD store and I bought ‘Parade of the Athletes’ and [thought], ‘Wow, I want to do this too’.”

Garrix has also cited the likes of Australian DJ Flume and Scottish producer Calvin Harris as some of the artists to have inspired him the most in recent years.

“My first fans were actually my parents,” he told GQ. “Even though my first songs were pretty bad, they always loved them because they saw how proud I was of the songs. “I was in the crowd, going crazy with my friends,” Garrix said in an interview with the Evening Standard. He has also collaborated with U2's Bono and The Edge for the official UEFA Euro 2020 song.

When he was 17 years old, he headlined the 2014 Ultra Music Festival, becoming the youngest DJ ever to have headlined the event.

The Dutch DJ and record producer has also had DJ residencies at some of Ibiza’s top clubs, including Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza. He has held residencies at prominent clubs in Ibiza like Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa.

In 2016, Martin Garrix founded his own record label, STMPD RCRDS.
