Her two sisters were Khursheed Jr., the older, and Mahliqa, the younger, who was formerly known as Madhu and was married to actor Mehmood.

She was the second daughter of the couple. She had two sisters, Khurshid Bano and Madhu. A seasoned performer in Parsi theater, he also made music, wrote Urdu poetry, performed minor roles in a few movies, and played the harmonium.

After getting married, Kumari’s mother Iqbal Begum—whose real name was Prabhavati Devi—converted from Christianity to Islam.

She started working in the films as a child artist as her family’s financial conditions were not good.

Meena Kumari made her acting debut with Vijay Bhatt’s film in the year 1939. During her childhood, her family members lovingly called her Baby Mahjabeen. Their on-screen pairing was loved by the audience. Ali Bux was really disappointed because he had hoped for a son.

Meena Kumari was an Indian actress, singer, and poetess.

Ali Bux’s second wife was Iqbal Begum. The relationship between the couple grew unpleasant as after marriage, Meena Kumari found out that that was Kamal Amrohi’s third marriage.

Meena Kumari's maternal grandmother was the daughter of Rabindranath Tagore's younger brother.

Her real name was Mahjabeen Bano.

In the year 1966, Meena Kumari won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film ‘Kajal.’

Meena Kumari was honoured with the Bengal Film Journalists Association Award (BFJA).

She was the only actress who won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for 13 consecutive years.

Her first Filmfare Best Actress Award was for Baiju Bawra in 1954, and she also won for Parineeta in the second Filmfare Awards in 1955.

At the 10th Filmfare Awards (1963), Kumari created history by winning Best Actress after being nominated for three times.
