Prime Minister Rama announced the dismissal of Ervin Metes, who is Petrit Malaj, the new Minister of Finance

Petrit Malaj has been proposed by Prime Minister Edi Rama to be the new Minister of Finance, replacing Ervin Meten in this position.
Petrit Malaj is currently the executive director of the Natural Resources Agency (AKBN).

He was elected to this position in January 2024, while today at the SP Congress he was proposed by the head of the government to head the Department of Finance instead of Ervin Metes.

According to a CV published online, Petrit Malaj graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana, continued his Master's studies in "Business Administration" at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the USA, qualified for "Banking and Finance" at the University Georgetown, USA and then followed a qualification program for Capital Market Management, of the Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Development of Germany.

He has a rich work experience in the banking system in Albania and then he was engaged as an Executive Director in the company "BDO Albania", part of BDO International, the fifth largest group in the world in the field of Financial Consulting, Audit and Taxes.
