From 2007-2008, he was based in Beijing for AP. Today Balilty lives in Tel Aviv and he is the Associated Press Chief Photographer for Israel, West Bank and Gaza. Balilty is the chief AP photographer for Israel, West Bank and Gaza Strip. Born and raised in Jerusalem, he began his career as a photographer for the Israeli army magazine Bamahane.

He lives in Tel Aviv and photographs current events and documentary features in Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and around the world. He is the first and only Israeli photographer to receive the Pulitzer Prize. In 2002 in the peak of the second intifada he joined the Associated Press and in 2007, he won the Pulitzer Prize for his photograph of a lone Jewish settler confronting Israeli security officers during the evacuation of a West Bank settlement outpost.

Between 2007-2009, he was based in Beijing. photographing current events and features for AP.

Besides his photojournalism, his fine art photography has been exhibited in galleries in Europe and Israel.

Oded Balilty

Oded Balilty is a Pulitzer Prize-winning Israeli photographer born and raised in Jerusalem.

In 2002, at the height of the second Palestinian uprising, he joined The Associated Press. Besides his photojournalism, his fine art photography is exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Europe, U.S., and Israel.
