Interview by Michael Limnios
Nancy, when was your first desire to become involved in the music & who were your first idols?
From my oldest memories, I was always passionate for music.
I always wanted to sing or listen, surrounding myself with music. “My friends, you have seen the heavy groups now you will see ‘morning maniac music,’’ announced Slick. Simpson left the Incredible String Band in 1971, never returning to music professionally. Baez sung straight from the heart and wove a beautiful story of young love before the audience at Woodstock.
Before that, she belonged to a gospel group with her siblings called “The Stewart Four.” Both women were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside their bandmates. Back then, Jim Morrison seemed like a mess—always drunk—always a mess. Robinson didn’t start playing the trumpet until she was in high school. We didn’t take him seriously.
The trio played through the night, even as torrents of rain began to fall. Most music is marketed and planned now.
Do you remember anything interesting from the tour with the Doors? What kind of guy was Jim Morrison
We toured a lot with the Doors. “It’s the only song that I’ve ever written that I’d sing anywhere outside of the bathtub.
And she certainly would never sing again if she regained any movement.

As a college professor, I’m in a good position to contribute to the causes of Vets coming home. How I wish I could have persuaded the living member of Sweetwater to play again.
