Intersection for the Arts and the California Shakespeare Theater come together this fall to co-produce the Califas Festival, a six week-long immersive, story-filled play yard of music, visual art, performance, and more in the area in and around Intersection's headquarters.

CC has been gracing stages and entertaining thousands of fans with his signature sound around the world for many years, and this new seven-song album is a tribute to the classic Soul and R&B music he grew up with.
Although there is no empirical evidence to support this proposition, the uptake of the Latin style by boppers such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Herbie Mann gives some credence to the notion. His rhapsodic and soulful approach has given him opportunities to work with many great jazz and Latin jazz artists such as Pete Escovedo, John Santos, Tito Puente, Wayne Wallace, Akira Tana, Linda Tillery, and Ray Obiedo.
His quartet format will give him an opportunity to stretch out and let the members reach high levels of musical expression using standards, Latin jazz, and original compositions.

The 3rd SF Filipino American Jazz Festival premieres October 10 at Yoshi's in San Francisco's jazz district.
The Festival is the culminating event of the Califas Project, a year of multimedia creative exploration in communities around the state including productions of Richard Montoya's The River at Campo Santo this past March, and American Night at Cal Shakes in June. Her far-ranging artistic pursuits, however, have not included recording an album of her own-until now.
