Lincoln?

Jay Pharoah’s Obama didn’t appear, but Romney (Jason Sudeikis) showed up briefly on Weekend Update, where he was still touting his performance in the first presidential debate. When you’re not sure it has to be you [to help her].”

Louis C.K. returns to Saturday Night Livethis week after making his hosting debut in November 2012.

C.K.’s episode presented one of the best sketches of the season, with the comedian playing President Abraham Lincoln in the style of FX’s Louie.

There’s a lot C.K.

and SNL could tackle during his return. Seth Meyerspressed Romney on his pledge to cut FEMA during the Republican primaries.

“That’s like judging a person’s behavior while they’re pledging a fraternity,” Romney said in his own defense.

SNL is new next week with host Anne Hathaway and musical guest Rihanna.

Revive Lincoln Sketch? also starred in possibly the best SNL sketch of the season so far, in which he played President Lincoln as if he were his character from Louie. Delivering five fresh minutes of stand-up was likely a badge of honor for the hard-working comedian. It’s like a game of decency chicken. Because that’s the Jersey way.”) and praises (a little too fervently) President Obama’s response to Sandy.

“I’ll vote for Romney, but I’m going to hate it,” Christie says.

The episode was SNL’s last chance to bring back Mitt Romney or Obama before Tuesday’s election.

“Turned on the heat and air-conditioning and let them fight it out in the apartment.”

He also recounted a lengthy story of being stuck in the airport with an elderly woman, whom he and a crowd witnessed falling down.

“There’s always one second when no one is helping her yet,” he said of any time an old woman falls down in front of a group.

appeared a few more times, as an ice age man and a fastidious hotel employee, but one of the more memorable moments came when the show returned from commercial, and it appeared C.K. had been making the audience laugh during the break. Look for him to repeat that this week.

Kimye Vogue Cover

Vogue‘s decision to put Kanye West and Kim Kardashianon the cover of its April issue was controversial, and has already inspired high-profile parodies.

SNL alum Seth Meyers wrote the sketch and has since moved on to Late Night, and the sketch feels like a lightning in a bottle sort of thing. Maybe (just maybe) C.K. could tackle another president. But with C.K.’s FX comedy Louie returning May 5 after a 19-month hiatus, it’d make sense to acknowledge the show somehow.

Teddy Roosevelt?

Fresh Stand-up

Last time he hosted, C.K. delivered a fresh monologue based on the current hot topic of the day — Hurricane Sandy. SNL has increasingly been calling upon Jay Pharoah to whip out his Kanye impression, even when the news didn’t necessarily warrant it.

“It’s like a little hesitation when we’re looking at each other. This one’s a no-brainer.

SNL can’t mock the tragedy multiple nations are working to bring a resolution to, but it could mock the extensive coverage that has made cable networks the target of media critics, while at least one local network got in hot water for an insensitive promo for its coverage.

Louis CK Plays Abraham Lincoln, America’s 16th President and (Yes) Stand-Up Comedian Too

Abraham Lincoln fretted over the timing of emancipation, General George McClellan’s reluctance to take decisive action, North-South reunification, and his wife’s mental instability.

Louis CK worries about sex, his kids, and the decline of his flabby, middle-aged body.

The tendency to dwell on weighty matters makes CK a fitting choice to embody our 16th president  on the small screen.

He had to advise them to quiet down before he could introduce musical guest fun.

SNL’s cold open took us to a post-Sandy press conference with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (Fred Armisen) and (and his overzealous sign language interpreter) and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Christie slams the mayor of Atlantic City for not evacuating (“I’m going to come rescue you and then I’m going to beat you to death.
