Gandhi was a prolific writer. He soon accepted a position with an Indian firm that sent him to its office in South Africa. Gandhiji was also influenced by this ancient book. He particularly advocated the manufacture of khaddar, or homespun cloth, in order to replace imported textiles from Britain.

- In 1930, Gandhi was named the Man of the Year by Time Magazine.
