    In July 2017, he released a Japanese musical album sung entirely in Japanese titled "re:wind"; it reached number one on the Oricon charts and he did a series of concerts in several Japanese cities to promote the album.

    A few months later, in November, he released an EP titled "Haze", his first Korean album after being out of the spotlight for a few years. One of these part-time jobs was as a waiter in a family restaurant in Jamsil-dong; his grades suffered as a result.

    In May 2008, he made his television debut in the reality variety show We Got Married alongside fellow singer Hwang Bo (황보); both singers were very popular with audiences.

    When he was in junior high school, to help support his family financially, he started to work a few part-time jobs. On May 24 of 2017, SidusHQ issued a public statement explaining that the actor was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, therefore, he would take some time off to focus on his health recovery.     The couple made their official exit from the show due to scheduling conflicts with “Boys Over Flowers”. Hyun Joong is well known for his role in “Boys Over Flowers”, for which he received the “Popularity Award” at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2009 and the “Popularity Award” at the 45th PaekSang Arts Awards.
