She later worked in the films Eradu Kanasu (1974), Bhakta Kumbara (1974), Sri Srinivasa Kalyana (1974), Daari Tappida Maga (1975), Pooja (1975), Veera Sindhura Lakshmana (1977), Janma Janmada Anubandha (1980), Maalai Sooda Vaa (1975), and many more.
She had a hurried marriage with Amritam. She made her debut as a lead actress in the film Yaara Saakshi, the film released in 1972 and it was directed by veteran director M. R. Vittal. She was born in Tumkur, Karnataka. She has shared screen with south super stars like Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan and also other prominent actors like Srinath and Shankar Nag and others, but most successful is with Srinath.
Depressed, she died due to a kitchen stove-burst on 12th September 1986.

Manjula made her debut as a child actor with the Kannada film Mane Katti Nodu (1966).
She later worked as a child actor in the films Padhavidhara (1967) and Eradu Mukha (1969). They had a son whose name is Abhishek. They acted together in about 35 films. The film was directed by Sri Sadguru. The film offers dried up and she had financial difficulties.
Manjula made her debut as a lead actress with the film Yaara Sakshi (1972). She has acted in more than 100 films[1]
Personal life
Manjula was born in Honenahalli, a village in Tumkur district on 5 April 1951 to Shivanna and Deveramma. Born on July 4, 1954, she ventured into acting at a young age, making her initial appearance in the film “Shanthi Nilayam” (1969) in a supporting role, portraying the teenage niece of Gemini Ganesan’s character.
Her cinematic journey took a significant turn with her lead role in “Rickshawkaran” (1971), marking the beginning of her prominence in the industry.
She is married to Amritham, a Film Director who directed films like Kanasu Nanasu, Hudugaatada Hudugi, and a few more. She was one of the most successful and prominent actress of Kannada films. Manjula’s influence on the South Indian film industry endures, and her legacy lives on through her contributions to over 100 films. Her lead actress debut was in the 1972 film Yaara Saakshi, which was directed by veteran director M.
R. Vittal. Her performances were well-received, and she shared the screen with legendary actors such as Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, M.G. Ramachandran, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishna, Shobhan Babu, Kamal Haasan, Vishnuvardhan, and Rajinikanth.
In 1976, Manjula entered a new chapter in her personal life by marrying actor Vijayakumar.
She belonged to a prominent lingayat family, her father Shivanna was a police sub inspector. She was married to film director Amritham who worked with her in films such as: Hudugaatada Hudugi, Kanasu Nanasu etc.,.
