The news today was announced at the BFI’s final Film Forever Roadshow at BFI Southbank in London.

The expansion of Warner Bros.Studios Leavesden will see the construction of three new sound stages comprising one 35,000 square-foot and two 17,000 square foot buildings, with 20,000 square feet of adjacent office space.

Screen launches Creative Week events

Screen is teaming up with its sister titles to launch Creative Week, five days of high-level events in June covering the film business, TV world and advertising community.

Creative Week will kick off on June 2 in London and comprise The Media Summit, the Broadcast International TV Forum, HD Evolved and The VFX Summit, as well as a number of breakfast events, roundtable seminars, film screenings, drinks parties and a gala reception.

The events will be run in association with sister titles Broadcast and shots.

The week is designed to discuss the changes in the way people consume, create and distribute content via a number of high-level case studies, keynote speeches and provocative panel sessions.

The Media Summit, a flagship one-day event that will bring together the leaders of the UK’s biggest media companies, will be held at BAFTA on Wednesday June 4.

Wong, Czernin, Ross join BFI board

Andrea Wong, Pete Czerninand Jonathan Rosshave joined the BFI’s governing board.

They will attend their first BFI Board meeting on 29 April, 2014.

The board of governors, chaired by Greg Dykeand co-chaired by Libby Savill, comprises Josh Berger, Ashley Highfield, Tom Hooper, Matthew Justice, Peter Kosminsky, Pat Butler, Charles Cecil, Oona King, J Timothy Richards and Alison Cornwell.

BFI plans year of UK-China activities

Industry delegation will go to Beijing film festival in April.

The BFI is unveiling a year-long special collaboration between the UK and China, which will include business, trade, creative and cultural initiatives.

This news comes as a UK-China Co-Production Treaty is being finalised.

The BFI, which will bring its Chinese activities together under the banner Electric Shadows, is working alongside a range of key partners including the British Council, Dcms, Ukti and the Great Britain Campaign.

China is a key priority in the BFI’s International Strategy.
