In 1996, he ran in a special election to replace Senator Bob Dole, who had resigned to run for president. Senate: November 7, 1996, to January 3, 2011. He took office on January 10, 2011, and has served as Kansas' 46th governor ever since.

Legal and Political Career
After graduating, Brownback worked for a television station for a year, hosting a weekly half-hour show. She spent nearly six months adjusting to the format, fearing she might come across as a fool.
He married Mary Stauffer in August 1982.
He worked as an attorney in Manhattan before serving as secretary of agriculture for the state of Kansas. He grew up on his family's farm in Parker, Kansas. With African roots inherited from her Cameroonian mother, she actively participated in improv and musical theater throughout her high school years.
He won election to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 1994. He earned a bachelor's degree at Kansas State University and a law degree from the University of Kansas in 1982. She spent four years as a correspondent on "The Daily Show." Her witty commentary became so beloved that many hoped she would succeed host Jon Stewart upon his departure.
He later endorsed John McCain for president. In 2008, Brownback considered running for governor in 2010 and filed paperwork to run in 2009.
Governorship
Brownback won the 2010 gubernatorial election, taking 63.3% of the vote. In 2022, she reprised her role as Eulalie Hicks in "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore." The film, set in the Harry Potter universe, reunited her with cast members Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Ezra Miller.
