In 2025, Jamie was nominated for Best Direction (Theatre for Young Audiences) for their production of 500 Words, which also received a performance nomination for its cast. BIG Sister—directed and dramaturged by Jamie—won the Cultchivating the Fringe Award and was nominated for Best New Play at the 2020 Jessie Awards.
Jamie co-created Chicken with Lucy McNulty, which won Best Script at the 2023 Santa Barbara International ShortFest and earned a nomination for Best Screenwriting at the 2023 Leo Awards.
He continues to consult for a number of high-profile firms and organisations including the UK’s Royal Society of Arts, Channel 4 Television and RTL. His essays, articles and ideas are published internationally including in The Times, Guardian and Telegraph newspapers.
He lives at www.jamie.com and in Kreuzberg, Berlin.

Jamie is a director, producer and creator born and raised on the sunshine and rain of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (colonially known as Vancouver).
Their practice has recently focused on the development of new work, specifically that speaks to contemporary issues through a comedic lens (and with a lot of heart).

Jamie is the Producer for Theatre Replacement.
They are a recipient of the Ray Michal’s Prize for Most Promising New Director. Middletown (co-directed with Arthi Chandra) was nominated for Outstanding Production, along with two acting nominations and two design nominations.
Jamie’s direction is also featured in the music video for Amanda Sum’s EP/suite does it make me naive that I’ve never been part of something, along with 12 other directors, which will premiere at the 2025 Vancouver Asian Film Festival.

JAMIE KING
Jamie King is founder of the VODO project for distributing and sustaining cultural production via P2P and Director/Producer of the series STEAL THIS FILM, which has been downloaded more than 6m times, broadcast internationally and screened at festivals worldwide.
Jamie’s work focuses on the radical creative possibilities offered by new media. In 2008 he keynoted the Creative Commons Conference in Sapporo and spoke at Power To The Pixel held at the London Film Festival. Their production of The Wolves was nominated for both Best Direction and Outstanding Production at the 2019 Jessie Richardson Awards.
He is currently in post-production with a five part net-show and feature, Dark Fibre, commissioned by FACT and Arts Council England.
When not working on projects, Jamie lectures worldwide on the changes digital networks are bringing to creativity and cultural production.
