Even at 90 her appearances are vital, dynamic and life changing to people of all ages. Jack himself embraced vegetarianism, occasionally including fish in his diet.

Entrepreneurship and Inventions

After completing high school, Jack enrolled in Oakland Chiropractic College in San Francisco. With a doctorate degree in hand, he opened a gym in Oakland, which he later equipped with a range of his own invention of exercise machines.

LaLanne hosted a popular American television show called the Jack LaLanne Show. In 2009, at the age of 94, he underwent heart valve surgery, and he passed away on January 23, 2011, due to respiratory failure caused by pneumonia. Her years of experience combined with her contemporary business savvy provide an exclusive insight into Jack Lalanne as she answers everyones questions about her husband.

He studied pre-med in college, attended chiropractic college, and at age 21, opened the nation’s first modern health studio in Oakland, California. At 93, he is still in great shape, and serves on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Council on Physical Fitness.

  • In 1957 at the age of 43, he swam across the Golden Gate channel while towing a 2500-pound cabin cruiser.
  • In 1958 at the age of 44, he paddled 30 miles from the Farallon Islands to San Francisco shore in 9 hours 30 minutes.
  • In 1974 at the age of 60, he once again swam handcuffed and shackled towing a 1000-pound boat from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman's Wharf.
  • In 1975 at the age of 61, he swam the length of the Golden Gate Bridge underwater in a wetsuit for a second time handcuffed, shackled and towing a 1,000-pound boat

He was born in San Francisco, California, to parents Jennie and Jean LaLanne, who immigrated to the United States from Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France. She has worked as a producer, a host, a guest and a star over the years.

  • In 2009 at the age of 95, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Club Industry.

    He had an older brother named Norman, who nicknamed him François Jack. He is sometimes called "the godfather of fitness" and turned his life around after listening to a public lecture by Paul Bragg, a well-known nutrition speaker. At 90 she still hasn't slowed down and can still do full body push ups. As a solo speaker, Elaine was sponsored by Post Cereal promoting her program and her book, Dynastride, a walk and exercise program for all ages.
