Happenstance is a French-language film with English subtitles.

She became one of the few French actors in history to be invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in June 2004.Tautou has modeled for Chanel, Montblanc, L'Oréal and many other companies. She has been nominatedthreetimes for the César Award and twice for the BAFTA for Best Actress in a leading role. Her subsequentroles in the 1990s and 2000s included Le Libertin and Happenstance.

Featuring Audrey Tatou, the star of the buzz-gathering Amélie, Happenstance has thus far been highly praised critically. The French title of the movie is Le Battement d'ailes du papillon, which translates as "The Beating of Butterfly Wings." That title perfectly sets the premise of the story, which is that just as the fluttering of butterfly wings over the Atlantic Ocean can launch a typhoon in the Pacific, so can every human action, no matter how seemingly small or insignificant, lead to bigger events.

The movie itself focuses on a number of unrelated characters and shows how their actions cause tremendous change in one another's lives.
