He began his acting career in his teenage years in Canada, starring in the film "First Seasons." He later moved to the United States, where he studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles before heading to New York.
In New York, Bellows appeared in off-Broadway productions such as "True West" and "Beirut." In 1991, he made his on-screen debut in the United States, appearing in an episode of the renowned TV series "Law & Order" on NBC.
