In 2004, Martin was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of New Jersey, and to the Giants’ Ring of Honor in 2010.
On September 16, 2007, Martin began walking from New York City’s George Washington Bridge to San Diego in order to raise money for medical care for the first responders to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States.
It was there that he first heard a symphony orchestra perform, leaving a lasting impression on him. By the age of eight, he convinced his parents to pay for piano lessons.

Biography of George Henry Martin
George Henry Martin was an English musician, composer, arranger, and record producer.
Unfortunately, his mother had a falling out with the teacher after just eight lessons, and Martin had to continue his musical journey on his own.
Son Frederick Wellington was born in spring 1888 while the family was in Moosomin, Assiniboia. The Beatles surpassed all his expectations, and Martin's musical education allowed him to refine their raw energy.
He was a part of the 1986 Giants team that won a franchise record 14 games, and was a team captain for Super Bowl XXI, recording a sack of Denver QB John Elway in the end zone for a safety on the way to the championship.
Martin once held the NFL record for career touchdowns scored by a defensive lineman with 6.
Surprisingly, those eight lessons proved to be sufficient as Martin was able to teach himself and master the instrument.
During World War II, Martin's family had to leave London, and he temporarily enrolled in a different school. He took part in the Riel Rebellion and during the Great War was with the [99th] Manitoba Rangers and later with the 97th East Kootenay Battalion.
At age 23 in autumn 1882, Edwin married 24-year-old Sarah Ann Harris in Columbus, Ontario. The harmonious blend of 90 musicians playing wooden and brass instruments fascinated young Martin, who couldn't fathom how such beauty could be created.
Early Career
Despite dreaming of a career in music, Martin initially pursued more practical paths to make a living.
There, he honed his skills on the piano and oboe and learned from the works of renowned composers such as Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Cole Porter, and Johnny Dankworth.
After graduating from university, Martin worked briefly in the music department at the BBC. In 1950, he joined EMI and worked under Oscar Preuss, the head of EMI Parlophone Records.
In addition, he amassed over 90 sacks in his Giants career, during which time he was generally regarded as one of the league’s most feared pass rushers. Martin won the NFL Man of the Year Award in 1986, honoring his “work in the community as the NFL player who best served his team, community and country.” He went on to serve as President of the NFL Players Association in 1988-89.

George Martin
George Martin played his entire NFL career for the New York Giants, missing only six games in 14 years (1975-1988). In recognition of his contributions to the music industry and pop culture, he was knighted in 1996 and became a Knight Bachelor.
Early Life and Musical Passion
Martin developed a passion for music at a young age when his family purchased a piano when he was only six years old.
However, he never saw combat during the war.
Nevertheless, Martin still occasionally provides advice and guidance to young artists, maintaining his connection to the music industry.
Edwin George Martin (1859 - 1940)
Biography
Edwin was born in spring 1859, in Michigan.
His "racial origin" was German, and he was a bricklayer by trade.
Wife Sarah was living close to her birthplace in Bruce County, Ontario, when son William Joseph (John) was born in summer 1886.
