Frederick G. Seibert is an American television producer and media proprietor.[1]

Seibert was the original creative director for MTV.[2] He also served as the president of its MTV Networks Online branch, and as a consultant.[3][4] He founded the production company Frederator Studios in 1998,[5] as well as its spin-off entities Frederator Networks, Channel Frederator Network, and Cartoon Hangover.[6] Having held numerous executive positions for Viacom Media Networks, he was the final president of animation studio Hanna-Barbera from 1992 to 1996.[1][7][8] He has since co-founded Next New Networks, Bolder Media, and launched the production company FredFilms.

All in all, I’ve produced 250 character based, creator driven short cartoons with hundreds of new characters for Nick –at Random! This expansion enabled the firm to produce hundreds of commercials annually and handle integrated campaigns that blended strategy with execution. So Fred/Alan launched Chauncey Street Productions with third partner Albie Hecht.

Musical career

Seibert began his media career in college radio at Columbia University's WKCR-FM in 1969.[59] According to Seibert himself, he spent most of his time in college at the radio station headquarters rather than attending classes, and thus never graduated.[60]

While at Columbia he co-founded his first company, Oblivion Records with partners Tom Pomposello[61] and Dick Pennington, releasing LPs by Mississippi Fred McDowell (Live in New York) and Joe Lee Wilson.

This approach prioritized creator-driven stories and diverse animation styles, fostering an environment for experimental work without the risks of committing to long-form series upfront.[35][36]The studio built key partnerships with emerging creators such as Craig McCracken and Genndy Tartakovsky, whose innovative contributions exemplified Frederator's commitment to artist-led animation during its formative years.

Independent production and recent activities

Establishment of FredFilms

After stepping down as CEO and chief creative officer of Frederator Studios in August 2020—his last day being November 27, 2020—Fred Seibert launched FredFilms as an independent production company in February 2021.[53][54] The venture marked Seibert's return to hands-on producing following over two decades building creator-focused animation studios, allowing him greater flexibility in championing emerging talent outside corporate structures.[55][1]FredFilms specializes in creator-driven, original animation projects, including long- and short-form series blending character-based storytelling with innovative formats for streaming platforms such as Netflix, Max, and Nickelodeon.[1][56] At launch, the company secured a first-look deal with ViacomCBS Networks International (now Paramount Global), prioritizing content that amplifies diverse voices in kids' and adult animation while integrating hybrid elements like live-action influences where appropriate.[53][57] Seibert has emphasized a post-corporate model that fosters mentorship for new animators, offering equity shares and creative autonomy to build sustainable careers in the industry.[1]Among its early projects, FredFilms executive produced the revival series The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, which premiered on Nickelodeon in May 2024 and became available on Netflix internationally in November 2024, with additional episodes released on Netflix in June 2025; Butch Hartman serves as an executive producer.[1][55][58] This effort exemplifies the company's commitment to revitalizing beloved IPs through independent lenses, alongside developing new originals that highlight underrepresented creators.

But I found other ways to express my love of music. For earlier work, the anthology series "Oh Yeah! I created Channel Frederator in 2005, one of the first animation channels on the internet, helping to foment a video revolution that’s still unfolding.
