Flora Aghababyan is the master cake artist at the Wynn Resort Las Vegas.

In 2010, Flora was the winner of the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma, followed by a nomination in 2012 as one of the Top 10 Cake Artists in North America by Dessert Professional Magazine.

In 2019, she was recognized as Pastry Chef of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association at their annual Culinary Excellence Awards. She enjoys transforming cakes into elaborate works of art, contrasting her intricate sugar work with simple flavor combinations, such as vanilla cream with assorted berries. This is a cake that will forever be saved!

Flora was 12 when she decorated her first cake and already knew she wanted to become a professional baker at age 18.

In August 2007, Aghababyan joined Wynn Las Vegas, where she prepares and adorns cakes for weddings and special events held at the resort. They are talented, creative and fast. Flora’s personal favorite cake is one made with fresh berries, but all her cakes are mouth watering.

In the course of an average day, Flora will bake and decorate between 10 and 20 cakes.

Flora sent the “Blue Baker’s” creation home in a box. Since joining the resort in 2007 as a cake artist, Aghababyan brings her sharp talent and a keen imagination to all of her designs.

Growing up in Armenia, Aghababyan began baking as a child, and her hobby quickly revealed itself as a passion. this is a birthday cake replicated by Flora.

Shortly thereafter, she joined the Bellagio in Las Vegas as chief cake designer—where she catered to celebrity clientele and showcased her talents by creating multi-dimensional cakes and pastries. Now, that’s working under pressure!

Flora is a great believer in working hard and following your dreams.

In 2000, Aghababyan came to the United States to work as a pastry chef at Chalet Pastry in Hollywood.

Always humble, she shares that “Every day is a competition for me. At the end of the day if everything is fine and  everyone is happy, then  this is the  best award for every day.”

The most number of cakes Flora ever made were  550 creations in three days! She is cool under pressure and there isn’t a cake request that she can’t fulfill in a moment’s notice.

Trust me, Flora really can transform anything into a cake. You might request this cake, which measured about 3 ‘ x 1 1/2 feet and was secured in a plexiglass case and loaded up in a private plane to be delivered for a very lucky young lady’s birthday.
